Become a Macarthur Champion

Keep Macarthur hearts beating by becoming a Macarthur Champion

Wests Group Macarthur, Campbelltown Catholic Club and Ingleburn RSL are joining forces to provide the Macarthur community 66 AED defibrillator units which will be available in case of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and potentially save a locals’ life. We’re calling on Macarthur locals to join our community initiative and become a Macarthur Champion, by hosting an AED unit on their property.

By hosting an AED unit, you’ll join a network of passionate people that understand the importance of quick access to this lifesaving piece of equipment, and will be supported with training, the AED unit and housing, signage and installation, at no cost to you.

Having access to an AED unit can improve lifesaving outcomes by up to 70% when treatment is administered within a 3-5 minute window and this initiative could quite literally, save a person’s life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do as a Macarthur Champion?

  • As a Macarthur Champion, you’ll be hosting a single wall mounted Heart of the Nation AED defibrillator unit on the exterior of your property for a period of at least 12 months, which will need to be visible from the street. You’ll also be provided signage to allow people to identify the unit from a distance in case of emergency.

What AED maintenance do I need to perform?

  • AED units require little to no maintenance, with hosts asked to complete a monthly maintenance check via QR code to ensure the unit remains functional. Full support is provided by Heart of the Nation for replacement batteries and pads and should you have any questions on the units themselves, you can contact Heart of the Nation.

I’m not trained in first aid, do I need to be?

  • The AED will provide clear and simple instructions in case of a sudden cardiac arrest and formal training is not required to operate it. This ensures that anyone can use the unit in case of emergency.

What if I change my mind about being a Macarthur Champion?

  • If you are no longer in a position to be a Macarthur Champion, please contact Campbelltown Catholic Club by emailing hello@cathclub.com.au.
