Music has a special way of bringing people together, and we recently had the opportunity to see its impact firsthand at Mary Brooksbank School.
Members of the Campbelltown Catholic Club community committee visited the school to see how our community funding is helping support its music program. It was a touching visit, with students showing genuine enthusiasm and engagement throughout the session.
”Mary Brooksbank School is deeply grateful for the support of the Campbelltown Catholic Club in supporting the Morris Children’s Fund to enable our music therapy program delivered by Rhythm Village. Our school supports students with moderate to severe intellectual disability and music therapy provides a powerful and engaging way for our students to connect, communicate and regulate their emotions.
The skilled musicians at Rhythm Village bring a calm, child-centred approach that fosters participation, joy and meaningful learning experiences. These sessions not only enhance student wellbeing but also support individual learning goals in a way that is both accessible and enjoyable. This program is highly valued by our staff, students and families, and has a lasting positive impact on our school community.
We sincerely thank the Campbelltown Catholic Club, the Morris Childrens Fund and Rhythm Village for their ongoing commitment to supporting inclusive and enriching opportunities for our students”
The school supports students with a range of additional needs, and it was wonderful to see how music can create opportunities for connection, expression and participation.
We’re grateful to the team at Mary Brooksbank School for welcoming us and for sharing the difference this program is making for their students.
